Banana Cream Pie Ingredients
This banana cream pie recipe calls for 9 simple ingredients. You probably already have some of these in your pantry. If you don’t like a strong banana flavor, you can substitute the box of banana pudding and use vanilla pudding instead. You will need:
- 50 Vanilla Wafers for the pie crust
- 6 TBSP Melted Butter
- 2TBSP Sugar
- Instant Banana Pudding
- Instant Vanilla Pudding
- 3/4 cup Whole Milk
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 4 cups Cool Whip
- 4 Bananas
- You will need additional bananas and wafers for the topping
How to Make Vanilla Wafer Pie Crust
- To make the pie crust, you will start by pulsing 50 vanilla wafers in a blender or food processor. You want to turn the wafers into crumbs. In a large bowl, mix together your wafer crumbs, butter, and sugar. The texture should resemble wet sand.
- Press the crust into a glass pie dish. If you don’t have a pie dish, this one is my favorite on Amazon. https://amzn.to/3Sjbcb6 I have found that the best way to do this is to use the bottom of a small plastic measuring cup. You can also use your fingertips. Make sure you bring your crust up to the top of the pie dish. The crust needs to be evenly distributed.
- Refrigerate the vanilla wafer pie crust while you make the filling.
How to Make Banana Cream Pie Filling
- In a large bowl, whisk together the pudding mixes, 3/4 cup whole milk, and 1 can sweetened condensed milk. Fold in 2 cups cool whip.
- Cut your bananas into small slices. Place some of the bananas on top of your wafer pie crust. Add 1/2 cup of sliced bananas(or more) to your filling and stir well.
- Pour the filling into the pie crust.
Pie Topping
- Top with 2 cups of cool whip, more sliced bananas, and crumbled vanilla wafers. You can also leave your vanilla wafers whole if you prefer.
- I recommend refrigerating for 2 hours before serving. This banana cream pie taste best when cold. Keep covered in the refrigerate for up to 4 days (if it lasts that long).
